Counselors are available in the Henderson Independent School District this morning. That’s in response to the death of a third grade student and his father around 3:00 a.m., Sunday, in a wreck that injured seven others, including three other HISD students. The identities of the victims have not, yet, been released.


Students from the Troup Independent School District are asking the community to wear blue today in support of their classmate, Cooper Reid. Reid suffered a head injury during the school’s homecoming game Friday night. A community prayer vigil was held for Reid Saturday. His condition is reported to be stable and the doctors say they are encouraged following CAT scans.


Vice President Kamala Harris visited NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston Friday to discuss federal policies regarding future space exploration. Harris said rapid technological advancements have allowed private companies to expand their space exploration capabilities beyond the scope of current federal regulations. In response, she says the Biden administration is developing a framework of rules for future space travel.

“These rules will be flexible enough to cover space activities that have not yet even been imagined.”

Harris also touched on the importance of NASA’s new Artemis missions, which aim to eventually place a permanent encampment on the surface of the moon.


Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will need surgery for a fractured bone in his throwing hand. He will miss several weeks after getting hurt in the fourth quarter of the season-opening 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
